How to lower your insurance rate
One way to not only have drivers’ insurance rates increased but to possibly have the policy cancelled is to have too many points added to their driving records. In every state it’s different, but if a driver receives so many points on their driving records in a one year period, their insurance companies will increase what they charge. Therefore, people who want to lower their insurance rates need to keep from receiving several tickets for speeding, reckless driving and DUIs.
Drive Fewer Miles
Those who are driving fewer miles are less likely to be involved in an accident. If drivers can demonstrate to their insurance companies that they are now driving fewer miles to work because they changed jobs, for example, they will be entitled to a discount for doing so.
Get Married
Males under the age of 25 are always quoted the highest insurance rates, but these same young males can be offered significant savings on their auto insurance rates just by getting married. These men will be considered to be a better risk by their insurance companies because they have chosen to take on more responsibility by being married.
Be a Good Student
Young people have another way to be seen as the more responsible elements of their age group other than being married. They may also obtain a grade point average of at least a 3.0. Then they will meet the qualifications of receiving the good student discount.
Obtain Several Quotes
Drivers can also look to obtain a quote from more than one insurance company. One company can quote a high rate, but the one down the street just might offer one for hundreds of dollars less.
